Funded under the INTERREG Italy-Croatia Program 2014-2020, the STREAM project aimed to strengthen flood risk management and emergency services at the cross-border level, to reduce losses both in terms of human lives and socio-economic losses.
The project
Started in April 2020 and ended in December 2022, STREAM developed flood risk monitoring tools and warning procedures in the project area. It also created a flood cadaster, risk maps, and a flood risk management plan. In addition to working on the technical aspects of risk management, the project also contributed to risk reduction through citizen involvement, improving knowledge about good practices to be implemented in case of flooding. Therefore, workshops, info-days and events targeting the public were organized during the project.
Results
- Strengthening of the FloodPROOFS modeling chain
- Implementation of flooded areas forecast for the Chienti and Foglia river basins (FLOMART tool)
- Creation of a flood lamination tool for the Mercatale dam and for the Chienti basin dams’ system
CIMA Research Foundation’s contribution
Fondazione CIMA stipulated a collaboration agreement with the Marche Region as part of the STREAM project to support the improvement of hydrological and hydraulic modeling at the Functional Center, flood lamination (i.e., tools to support flood management in some artificial reservoirs) and the training of technicians.
