Legal Status

CIMA Research Foundation – Centro Internazionale in Monitoraggio Ambientale (International Centre on Environmental Monitoring), is a non-profit research organization registered with the no. 34/UTG, at the Legal Registry of Savona. It is committed to promote the study, scientific research, technological development and higher education in engineering and environmental sciences in order to improve civil protection, public health and the preservation of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Its founding institutions are the National Civil Protection Department of Italy, the University of Genova, the Government of the Region of Liguria, and the Administration of the Province of Savona.
In 2019, the Regional Agency for the Protection of the Environment became a member of the Board of Directors of CIMA Research Foundation, together with the founding bodies

CIMA Research Foundation is part of the Italian National Civil Protection System Network of Excellence within the fields of floods and forest fires, with special focus on early warning systems.
CIMA Research Foundation is a joint research, innovation and higher education institution recognized by the article 12 of Liguria’s Region regional law of 27 December 2011, no. 38. Besides its headquarters in Savona University Campus it holds a branch in Albania at the Institute of Energy and Water of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, in 2011.
