Gender Equality Plan

“Disasters don’t discriminate, but people do… disasters reinforce, perpetuate and increase gender inequality, making bad situations worse for women.” (UNISDR, 2009)

The Gender Equality Plan is a document required to access the next Horizon call for proposals, yet we at the CIMA Research Foundation also see it as an opportunity for growth and improvement in our work.

Therefore, so that we can jointly embark on a path that is not a mere formality but rather far-reaching, transparent and participatory, here we will be bringing together the state of the art in this path, to be undertaken with input from everyone. We will also be including info material, examples from other institutes and the state of progress in this section.

Any queries, suggestions or requests for further information should be sent to this email address: gep-cima@cimafoundation.org

1522 – FREE PUBLIC UTILITY NUMBER

1522 was activated in 2006 by the Department for Equal Opportunities with the aim of developing a broad systemic action for emerging and combating the phenomenon of intra- and extra-family violence against women. In 2009, with the entry into force of L.38/2009 amended in 2013 on the subject of persecutory acts, it also started supporting stalking victims.
The public utility number 1522 is active 24 hours a day, every day of the year and is accessible from the entire national territory free of charge, both from fixed and mobile networks. Reception is available in Italian, English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Albanian, Ukrainian Russian, Portuguese and Polish.
The telephone operators dedicated to the service provide an initial response to the needs of victims of gender-based violence and stalking, offering useful information and orientation towards the public and private social-health services present on the national territory and included in the official mapping of the Presidency of the Council – Equal Opportunities Department. By supporting victims, 1522 supports the emergence of the demand for help, with an absolute guarantee of anonymity. Cases of violence of an emergency nature are dealt with through a specific technical-operational procedure shared with the Police Force.
