CIMA Research Foundation, as national competence centre of the Italian Civil Protection Department for hydrological and hydraulic risk, has implemented its own modelling tools on the Italian territory. In some regions, CIMA Research Foundation is also responsible for managing the operational part of the modelling tools and services activities related to the operational control chain, as well as deepening the knowledge on extreme events with further detail. Following the floods of 2014 (May 2-4), which affected heavily the Marche territory, the Regione Marche has commissioned to CIMA Research Foundation to establish hydrological measures necessary for structural and non- structural safety of the main river basin districts.

The FloodPROOFS and Continuum tools were implemented and integrated with the a version of the Dewetra platform, actually in use in the Functional Centre of Regione Marche. FloodPROOFS is now active as a probabilistic prediction system of intense hydro-meteorological events across all regional basins.
