RISK-CAP-RES

RISK-CAP-RES builds on the results of the PITEM RISK project and develops innovative tools to improve risk communication and strengthen the resilience of cross-border territories between Italy and France, as part of the Interreg VI-A France–Italy ALCOTRA Program 2021–2027. The project was created in response to the increasing frequency of extreme events linked to climate change (floods, landslides, avalanches, wildfires and droughts) through training activities aimed at local administrators, citizens, students and economic operators.

GOALS AND EXPECTED RESULTS

The overall objective of the project is to promote a shared risk culture, improve communities’ self-protection capacity and strengthen cross-border cooperation in emergency management, thereby contributing to increasing the resilience of territories facing natural hazards exacerbated by climate change. In particular, the project aims to:

  • improve risk communication between Italian and French local authorities through shared training programmes;
  • increase awareness and self-protection capacity among younger generations through innovative tools such as virtual reality and the risk geoportal;
  • strengthen the resilience of citizens, tourists and businesses through awareness-raising activities and targeted communication initiatives.

The activities include the development of a cross-border digital platform for risk communication featuring virtual reality simulations, the update of a natural hazards geoportal accessible to citizens, and the design of new immersive educational solutions focused on landslides, avalanches and floods. The project also includes numerous training programmes, public meetings and communication campaigns shared between Italy and France.

CIMA RESEARCH FOUNDATION’S CONTRIBUTION

CIMA Research Foundation coordinates the activities dedicated to cross-border training programmes aimed at local authorities, technicians, administrators and stakeholders involved in disaster risk management. The objective is to strengthen civil protection capacities, create a common language between Italy and France, and promote the exchange of good practices through training modules, discussion sessions and joint exercises.
CIMA also contributes to the development of content for information materials, videos and messages for multilingual signage, with the aim of ensuring clear, coordinated and consistent risk communication across the cross-border territories.
