Regione Puglia has requested to activate with greater definition the national models already implemented by the DPC for forest fire risk forecasting, prevention and monitoring. The aim was to have a regional detailed view and to be able to issue a daily report for better forest risk management.

CIMA Research Foundation has then developed a web application that allows the creation a forecasting report, containing risk maps to be communicated to the various end-users.

The usefulness of this application was primarily related to regulating the burnings in agriculture, which are often the cause of forest fires. The web application is provided directly to farmers with useful information and suggestions for periods when fire is not prohibited.

CIMA Research Foundation has also implemented the Propagator model to provide a useful tool for fire fighters to operate safely and efficiently. Thanks to this probabilistic model it is possible to know which areas are at greater risk.
