PPRD East 2 was the second phase of the PPRD East comprehensive and wide Programme funded by the European Union Delegation in Ukraine. It lasted four years (2014-2019) and it aimed at increasing the regulatory, administrative and operational capacity levels for disaster risk management in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The project guided the implementation of standard operational procedures in these countries, in order to be compliant with the European standards regarding civil protection and risk reduction.
PPRD EAST 2 opened with a period of in-depth and specific analysis on different aspects of civil protection systems and disaster management in the beneficiary countries. The work was carried out both on a regional and national scale.
As part of the program, CIMA Research Foundation aimed to support institutions in reviewing and adapting national legislation to European standards, particularly the European directive concerning flood risk and the regulation of volunteering, with particular reference to the creation of a register of volunteer organizations certified to European standards. We also helped develop Standard Operative Procedures (SOPs) protocols and a single database for damage data collection and risk assessment following the guidelines of the Joint Research Center (JCR) of the European Commission.
CIMA Research Foundation has also contributed to the development of Standard Operative Procedures (SOPs) and to the implementation of a unique database for disaster loss data collection and risk assessment, following the guidelines of the Joint Research Center (JCR). CIMA researchers oversaw a series of training courses and participated in the construction of working groups dedicated to risk assessment, based on homogeneous methodologies and consistent with existing good practices.
