CapRadNet

The CapRadNet project (CAPitalization and exploitation of RADar-based infrastructure and decision support system for environmental hazard management NETwork in the Adriatic and Ionian region), co-financed by the IPA Adriatic Cross-Border Cooperation Program, was developed by CIMA Research Foundation’s headquarters in Albania and other ten other partners and associate institutions from Italy, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project, active between 2016 and 2018, aims to capitalize the results achieved with the previous ADRIARadNet project by continuing to work in the Adriatic and Ionian macro-regions towards the achievement of the European Union strategic objectives.

Within CapRadNet, CIMA Research Foundation goal was to extend myDewetra platform, which is devoted mainly to monitoring floods and intense meteorological events, also to the monitoring and forecasting of landslides as well as to develop the SEAWETRA tool for the Adriatic Sea monitoring. SEAWETRA is a tool customized to understand the health conditions of the sea, regarding certain parameters of its chemical-physical conditions.

Within the project, myDewetra platform has been used as a decision support system (DSS) in coastal, marine, airport and metropolitan areas through various activities: feasibility studies, new radar installations, a pilot rehabilitation action on a building in Mostar, the implementation of models for landslide risk mapping, the inclusion of oceanographic data by the Copernicus Program and the migration of the Dewetra tool into the myDewetra application portal.

CIMA Research Foundation’s responsibilities include a myDewetra specific training school dedicated to landslides, floods and marine ecosystems at the regional level, involving not only the project partners but also other Macedonian, Albanian and Montenegrin agencies.
