ADRIARadNet

The ADRIARadNet project (ADRIAtic integrated RADar-based and web-oriented information processing system NETwork to support hydro-meteorological monitoring and civil protection decision-making) was the first project of our Albanian office. The project was funded by the European Union through the IPA Adriatic Cross-Border Cooperation Program with the aim of implementing a forecast system for the Adriatic Sea area and fostering interregional and international collaboration in sharing data, tools and observation and forecasting capabilities in the hydro-meteorological field.

The project lasted for three years, from 2012 to 2015, and was successful in create a web platform/data container for monitoring sensors and hydro-meteorological models of the institutions involved. A second achievement was the integration and upgrade of the existing monitoring networks through the installation of four new weather technology mini-radars on the two Adriatic shores, two in the Italian regions of Marche and Abruzzo and another two in Croatia and Albania.

CIMA Research Foundation has also combined the ADRIARadNet platform with it own Dewetra tool, transforming it in multinational platform on the floods, usable and shared by the three countries involved (Croatia, Albania and Italy).

It was the first time that the Dewetra system has allowed the data owner to share information within a software platform, whereas previously the data had to be sent to a central server making the operations slower and complex. This result has also been applied in following projects.
