Entirely in e-learning mode, the course presents three platforms for marine weather monitoring and is aimed at students, researchers and technicians
An online course dedicated to WebGIS tools for marine weather monitoring, developed by CIMA Research Foundation, in collaboration with ARPAL and LaMMA Consortium, is now available.
Having available meteorological and oceanographic information, for example on temperature or precipitation over the years, can be extremely useful for those involved in marine weather monitoring. The course is aimed at students, researchers and technicians who can use these data in the course of their studies or their profession: it is, in fact, dedicated to three different platforms that allow to collect and display these data, as well as to analyze them for different research purposes. These are, in particular, the OMIRL platform, developed by ARPAL, the LaMMA Geoportal (developed by LaMMA Consortium) and the Seawetra platform of CIMA Research Foundation. The latter allows the consultation of oceanographic and bathymetric datasets useful for the monitoring of marine ecosystems, with particular reference to the Pelagos Sanctuary area.Â

Organized in modules, in English and entirely in e-learning mode, the course will allow participants to have a complete overview of these platforms, the datasets they contain and the analysis tools they provide.
The course has been developed in the framework of the Interreg Maritime project SICOMAR plus, dedicated to strengthen the safety of navigation in the cross-border maritime area Italy-France.
