CIMA against gender violence

As with environmental risks, which we deal with on a daily basis, gender-based violence is also a dramatic problem that is unfortunately too often dealt with on an emergency basis. It is obviously necessary to act there, but it is not enough, at least looking at the numbers and results in Italy; instead, a long-term path is needed. Starting with a major cultural change, first of all, and continuing with constant prevention and awareness raising: for this, we were more than enthusiastic to join the …This is not love campaign, promoted and organized by the Italian Central Anti-Crime Directorate. The project, which aims to reach victims of violence, including potential ones, through meetings in the area and dissemination of information material, opened with a meeting held on Saturday 19 at the Moretti Theater in Pietra Ligure, which was also attended by our president Luca Ferraris.

This year it was inaugurated right in our city, Savona, with the first edition of We run for women – Let’s run with the State Police running race organized by the Savona Police Headquarters that was held on Sunday, November 20 in the towns of Pietra Ligure and Borgio Verezzi. A race to denounce and stop the scourge of feminicides, which are increasing year after year in our country.

Therefore, the running race on Sunday, November 20, saw the participation of many of our female researchers, also accompanied by their families, who gave their support to the initiative.

“I am really grateful for the invitation from the questora of Savona Alessandra Simone to participate in the event and to support the campaign: this is indeed an important opportunity to raise awareness of the issue of gender-based violence,” says Luca Ferraris. “This a problem that requires changing our culture in this regard, a process that must be carried out day after day, from a preventive perspective. For this reason we believe it is important to contribute to raising awareness outside of our offices and workshops as well, and events like these give us the opportunity to do so.”

In addition to running, to do our part and contribute as much as possible to the spread of a culture of gender equality, on the CIMA Foundation’s Gender Equality Plan page we publish updates and other useful documents.
