Communication

Communication plays a key role in bridging the gap between scientific research and society. For example, the study of natural phenomena makes it possible to produce risk assessments on the basis of which a set of policies, measures and behaviors can be established to prevent it. This involves, on the one hand, those responsible for the introduction and implementation of risk prevention and mitigation procedures and, on the other hand, communities called upon, for their own protection, to adopt responsible behaviors.

The scope communicates the results achieved by researchers in a way that makes them usable to decision makers, providing them with the tools they need to establish risk mitigation and prevention strategies. With this in mind, the scope follows projects at all stages, from the beginning, communicating the need for which the project was proposed and the objectives it intends to achieve, to the end, taking care of the dissemination of results through various communication channels. This process is carried out by adhering to the Sendai Framework targets and the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the 2030 Agenda.

The scope’s activities are also aimed at communities, so that they are prepared for emergencies and aware of the behaviors they are required to adopt. To this end, CIMA Foundation is a partner in the Department of Civil Defense’s “Io non rischio” campaign, which is active nationwide in risk communication and good prevention practices.
