CIMA Research Foundation, commissioned by Regione Liguria, will develop four marine environmental assessments near the container platform actually being build by the Port Authority of Savona.

Assessments will pay particular attention to the health of two species whose conservation is protected by a European directive, neptune grass (Posidonia oceanica) and coralligenous populations (sponges and gorgoniidae soft corals).

The four evaluations will be schedule at the various stages of the work: i) baseline evaluation in 2010; ii) dredging evaluation in 2016; iii) post dredging evaluation in 2018; iv) evaluation at the conclusion of works (yet to be defined).

The data collected will then be included on a web platform for information exchanging between institutions and operators involved who will then have to communicate data and its monitoring to the Liguria Region and to the Municipalities involved.
