PITEM RISK

Improve forecasting, prevention and preparedness for flood, landslide and avalanche risk in the ALCOTRA territory, working with a participatory approach for the involvement of the population and the different actors involved in risk management

RISK is one of the Thematic Integrated Thematic Plans (PITEM) carried out in the framework of the France-Italy Interreg ALCOTRA cross-border cooperation program. Ideal continuation of the previous RiskNET project, PITEM RISK represents the coordination core of four other PITEM projects:RISK-COM,RISK-GEST,RISK-FOR and RISK-ACT. Although each of these has its own specific objective, their overall aim is to strengthen risk prevention and resilience in the cross-border area. Led by the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta, the plan began in October 2018 and will end in 2022.

PITEM RISK stems from two transboundary networks already existing on the ALCOTRA territory: the natural risk management network and the emergency management network. This union contributes to activate joint solutions able to increase the resilience of the territories most exposed to risks, also through the implementation of innovative communication and education interventions able to reach the population directly.

In order to consolidate and increase the work networks, the plan provides, among other activities, the creation of an interdisciplinary cross-border group dedicated to the drafting of proposals for collaboration and cross-border memoranda of understanding, operational and in tune with national and European guidelines, in the field of risk prevention and emergency management. In this way, the network created within PITEM RISK can lay the foundations for long-term collaborations with institutions, encouraging the continuation of activities aimed at risk management and strengthening resilience.

Within the PITEM RISK plan, CIMA Research Foundation, in addition to being the lead partner of the RISK-GEST project, participates in all other simple projects, bringing in each of the projects its expertise and experience in the field of participatory civil protection planning, legal responsibility, hydraulic and meteorological modeling, training and communication.
