Funded by the European Commission – FP7 Programme from 2013 to 2015, it saw CIMA Research Foundation as the scientific advisor of the project. The objective of IncREO (Increasing Resilience through Earth Observation) was to provide civil protection and disaster management actors with EO-based solutions to improve preparedness and mitigation planning for areas highly vulnerable to natural disasters and noticeable climate change trends. These solutions are tailored to user needs and reflect short-term climate scenarios and related regulations at national, supranational, and European levels.
IncREO is a multi-risk project and worked on specific use cases (dam failure, storm surge, wave height, flooding, and landslide) in a pilot area. Among the case studies was Albania, for which CIMA Research Foundation, in collaboration with UNESCO and Georville, provided the analysis of the EO data situation and their use for flood risk and vulnerability mapping, producing asset maps and risk/vulnerability maps.
