eDrift

Disaster RIsk Financing and Transfer (eDrift), is a project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) and coordinated by CIMA Research Foundation that aims to improve the effectiveness of satellite products for Disaster Risk Financing (DRF) applications by implementing value-added services that are as reliable, automatic and reproducible as possible. The project established a strong link between value-added satellite service providers, financial service providers for the insurance market, and insurance and reinsurance companies as well as with other active players in DRF such as the World Bank, with the aim of creating a new set of applications and products to serve the public and proven insurance world. For this reason, the partnership includes players in the field of satellite services, and players who play a major role in the insurance market. The project is focused on a pilot area in Southeast Asia, specifically Cambodia, LAOS, and Myanmar.

The eDrift projects cooperate with the SEADRIF initiative supported by the World Bank. SEADRIF is a regional platform that provides participating nations with advisory and financial services to increase preparedness, resilience and cooperation in response to climate and disaster risks.
