{"id":9633,"date":"2024-02-07T10:07:42","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T09:07:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cimafoundation.org\/progetto\/development-of-a-global-drought-risk-atlas\/"},"modified":"2024-11-27T10:56:59","modified_gmt":"2024-11-27T09:56:59","slug":"development-of-a-world-drought-atlas","status":"publish","type":"progetto","link":"https:\/\/www.cimafoundation.org\/en\/project\/development-of-a-world-drought-atlas\/","title":{"rendered":"Development of a World Drought Atlas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, the CIMA Research Foundation was tasked by the Secretariat of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) with the development of a World Drought Atlas, in collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/vu.nl\/en\/about-vu\/research-institutes\/ivm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Institute for Environmental Studies &#8211; Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam <\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/ehs.unu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Institute for Environment and Human security \u2013 United Nations University<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/about-european-commission\/departments-and-executive-agencies\/joint-research-centre_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Joint Research Centre &#8211; European Commission<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does is the project work, and what is the role of CIMA Research Foundation?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CIMA Research Foundation is responsible for creating an atlas describing drought risk in the current and future global climate.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drawing on recent literature studies, the atlas aims to provide an overview of potential impacts on various socio-economic systems and sectors, highlighting the drivers contributing to drought risk. Future climate and population trends are analyzed to offer a comprehensive perspective for multi-sectoral adaptation measures.
