The week starts\nin conjunction with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unisdr.org\/disasterreductionday\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">International Day\nfor Disaster Risk Reduction<\/a> of the United Nations, which is this year dedicated\nto the reduction of disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption\nof basic services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During these days it will be possible to spread the\nknowledge of civil protection good practices and system, to promote the active\nparticipation and to share policies. As a Competence Centre of the Italian Civil\nProtection Department, CIMA Research Foundation won&#8217;t miss the meeting. From\nthe scientific knowledge to the awareness of citizens, and from the awareness\nto the choice of the behaviours to follow: this is our vision for the risk\nreduction, the civil protection and sustainable development. This is the common\nthread that will accompany us during the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00abRisks deriving from natural phenomena have always been\npresent in our society, but they have evolved over time. We need to learn to\nrecognize them from a scientific point of view in order to understand not only\nhow to face them, but also how to live with them in a perspective of\nsustainable development, as is required by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unisdr.org\/we\/coordinate\/sendai-framework\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sendai Framework<\/a> and\nthe <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/post2015\/transformingourworld\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Agenda\n2030<\/a>\u00bb, says Luca Ferraris, president of CIMA Research\nFoundation. \u00abThe week is a great opportunity to share the knowledge about risk\nreduction between experts, the citizens and policy-makers: awareness originates\nfrom knowledge, and it is crucial for activating society and keep the correct\nbehaviours, both in the public and private sectors \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I do not risk <em>comes back<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Saturday 12 and\nSunday 13<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ninth edition of the national campaign I do not risk will take place on October, 12 and the 13. The campaign is dedicated to the promotion of good practices and to the awareness of citizens about different kind of natural risk. Promoted and realized by the Italian <a href=\"http:\/\/www.protezionecivile.gov.it\/home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Civil Protection Department<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anpas.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National Association of Public Assistance<\/a> (ANPAS), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ingv.it\/it\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology<\/a> (INGV), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reluis.it\/index.php?lang=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Laboratories University Network of Seismic Engineering<\/a> (ReLUIS) and CIMA Research Foundation, the campaign will have information stands in over 850 places (a complete list is available <a href=\"http:\/\/iononrischio.protezionecivile.it\/io-non-rischio\/dove-si-svolge\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>) .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/iononrischio.protezionecivile.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimafoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Io-non-rischio.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-862\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Civil Protection\nParty. Colonna Mobile in piazza, the event of Liguria Region<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Genoa, Saturday 12 October<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the Civil Protection Party. Colonna Mobile in piazza,\npromoted by Liguria Region, in Genoa Luca Ferraris will meet the schools to\ntalk about the science in civil protection, focusing on fire risk. The meeting\nis on Saturday, 12, at Piazza De Ferrari, starting from 11.00 am. There will\nalso be the head of the Civil Protection Department Angelo Borrelli, the\npresident of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti and the regional assessor for\ncivil protection and land protection Giacomo Giampedrone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Science in civil\nprotection<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Rome, Monday 14<\/em><br><em>Savona, Wednesday 16<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The topic of scientific knowledge as a crucial support\nand base for an efficient civil protection will be explored during a national\nevent which will take place in Rome on Monday, 14, in presence of the Minister\nof Education, University and Research Lorenzo Fioramonti. The directors of the\nCompetence Centres, Luca Ferraris among others, will meet at a round table. At\nthe end of the day, they will read a conclusive declaration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The national event will be accompanied by local events\norganized by the Competence Centre, and which will take place during the week.\nIn accordance with its vision, included in the key words &#8220;science,\nawareness, behaviours&#8221;, CIMA Research Foundation has planned, on Wednesday\n16, a day dedicated to the dissemination of its research activities, focused on\nwildfire and hydro-meteorological risk and the operative implications of their\nmanagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cimafoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Flyer-Sett.-PC-III-1527x1080-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-866\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our researchers will explain the mechanism influencing hydro-meteorological events, i.e. storms and floods, and the wildfires, highlighting their risks and how forecasting and prevention activities have changed over time. There will also be a visit at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cimafoundation.org\/foundations\/research-development\/operations-center.html\">Operations Centre<\/a>, where participants can learn about the developed tools and assist to a simulation of past events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stefano Vergante (executive of Liguria Region Civil Protection), Francesca Giannoni (executive of meteo-hydrological centre of Liguria Region -ARPAL) and Fulvio Borsano (vice-executive of the National Firefighter Corps, comando provinciale of Savona) will also be guests. The programme is available <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cimafoundation.org\/cima_gest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Flyer-Sett.-PC-III.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Volcanic risk: the Exe Flegrei drill<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Napoli, October,\n16-20<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Phlegraean Fields are a broad area in the north-west of Naples. Some years ago, an updating of their civil protection plan started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the National Civil Protection Week, there will\nbe a drill, which will take place between Wednesday 16 and Sunday 20. During\nthe drill, a variation of monitoring parameters will be simulated, with the\nshift from the yellow, to the orange, to the red alert (representing the\nimminent eruption) and there will be the evacuation of part of the population\nfrom the Red Zone. The drill will be an important opportunity to test and\nimplement the operative aspects and the procedures of risk management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CIMA Research Foundation will be in the Quarto\nMunicipality, one of the Red Zone municipalities, where in May an experimental\nparticipatory path for the civil protection planning was launched.
