Challenges that are from local to global and also citizens, institutions and civil society organizations are called to disseminate correct information and to know how much scientific research can contribute to political and decision-making processes.

Our researchers Francesco Avanzi and Francesca Munerol will investigate the water resources issue with the aim of framing the existing solutions for proper water management scientifically in relation to climate change. The definition of the term ‘water resources’ delineates the possible scenarios for water distribution and unfortunately also the possible seeds of conflict, both social and geopolitical, due to the effects of climate change. In addition a global vision, the situation of the local area will be analyzed to have a greater awareness of water use. Through a brainstorming with the local administrators present at the event, a mapping of who the users are, for what purpose the water is used, when and where and if these uses can generate current and future conflicts of the specific case of the Province of Savona will be done.

Thanks to the contributions of the participants, it will be possible to have a realistic map of the use of this fundamental resource and of which conflicts could arise in the not too distant future at the local level.

The topics of the correlation between forest and climate change thanks to the contribution of Anfor Liguria, the effects of climate change on fauna and natural habitats with the naturalists of the CEA of Cairo Montenotte and the description of the project Bando Mutamenti of the Province of Savona on forest fire monitoring for the Adelasia Reserve will then be explored.

Within the cycle “Paths and projects of the territory”, on 3 December at the Municipal Library in Cairo Montenotte, the regional strategy for adaptation to climate change and biodiversity will be discussed together with local administrations and associations.
