URAMET

The European URAMET project, financed by the Interreg Alcotra Program and concluded in 2017, has implemented and improved the nowcasting systems in the Liguria territory while monitoring and short- term forecasting on extreme hydro-meteorological events.

CIMA Research Foundation has partnered with ARPA Liguria and ARPA Piedmont for technical-normative issues and has coordinated the Monte Seteppani radar upgrade/renewal, which has resulted in more reliable measurements and a more stable system. CIMA Research Foundation will also check and renew the operating product generation procedures to adapt and make them operational with the new radar.

As part of the URAMET project, it was possible to implement the hydrological monitoring modelling system on the river Roia (Ventimiglia), an area previously not monitored by modelling as the river flows predominantly in France. In this way it will be possible to have instrumental observations, and also short-term forecasts by models that exploit both radar data and soil data.

Part of the activity also includes the dissemination of project information and radar information: an innovative smartphone application was developed and released to allow citizens to use and view the Monte Settepani radar data in real time.
