ROADMAP

Funded by the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and European Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), ROADMAP was a project dedicated to bringing knowledge about disasters, developed over the years by the scientific community, closer to policy makers and risk management managers, so as to improve governance over risk and ultimately foster positive impacts on communities.

The project

Lasting 18 months (January 2021-June 2022), ROADMAP was focused on linking national and EU initiatives on risk management, so as to contribute to the definition of common policies applicable at the national level and, at the same time, to propose to the European Union the best practices developed in the different member states and associated countries that can represent a standard reference for future national and European initiatives.

Results

  • Collection and sharing with decision makers and practitioners, through periodic bulletins and publications, of best practices in civil protection and risk reduction
  • Vision paper with elaboration and systematization of the results of thematic work, to outline the actions to be promoted to move from knowledge to the tools and procedures needed by policy and decision makers for risk management
  • Development of the Solutions Explorer, a tool for searching and browsing good practices on Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Risk Management (https://solutionsexplorer-roadmap.ci3r.it/)
