Scientific and Academic experiences

Operational and research experience in environmental modelling. Main research interests focus on three aspects of forest fires. First, developed models have been used to implement several operational systems for potential forest fire danger assessment both on a Regional and National scale. Such systems, making use of meteorological forecasts and observations, are able to provide a Fire Danger Index useful for preventive management. Second, research in the field of forest fire regime characterization aiming to partition a region by articulating differences in timing, frequency and intensity of the phenomena among different zones allowing wildfire managers to allocate and position resources in order to minimize wildfire risk. Third, research on the impact of climate variability on wildfire regime.
Author and co-author of more than 30 papers, 7 published on international refereed journals.
Teaching experience 1997-present. Supporting different courses on Modelling and Simulation within the undergraduate courses on Environmental Engineering and Electronic Engineering at the University of Genoa.
Design, teaching and co-teaching on Natural risk management and Wild Fires risk within the undergraduate courses on Environmental Engineering at the University of Genoa.
