CIMA Research Foundation to take part in Shanghai World Expo 2010.
The World Expo 2010, is an international exposition that will take place from 1 May to 31 October 2010 at Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The Expo, which will cover over 5 square kilometers hopes to attract 70 million people to see the displays of exhibitors from over 200 countries from the public and private sectors, civil society, international organization
The theme of the 2010 World Expo is 'Better City, Better Life', and covers the areas sustainable urban planning and environmental technology. CIMA Research Foundation has a considerable expertise in these areas, which represent critical themes for the development of applications and studies, which encompass multiple sectors both of basic science and applied engineering.
> In this framework, the Sino-Italian Cooperation Programme for Environmental Protection, through the Local Technical Unit of the Italian Cooperation Office in China, requested CIMA Research Foundation to participate in a full-day workshop to be held on Friday the 17th of September 2010 at the Italian Pavilion.
> The theme of the workshop will be the use of Early Warning and risk assessment systems for wildlife and terrestrial/marine biodiversity protection and conservation. CIMA Research Foundation along with other major Italian research centres and private companies engaged in the field of environmental monitoring and disaster risk reduction, will provide the Chinese audiences with a full picture of the systems and the operational tools that are currently used in Italy to manage the protected areas and to cope with the natural and man made risk that affect the environment.
The meeting will represent an outstanding opportunity to stress the importance of such systems for an effective reduction of risk, and to strength scientific and commercial relationships between different entities, both of public and private sector, that are working in this strategic theme.

In questo contesto, il Programma di Cooperazione Sino-Italiano per la Protezione dell'Ambiente, attraverso l'Unità Tecnica Locale della Cooperazione italiana in Cina, ha chiesto a CIMA Research Foundation di partecipare ad un workshop di un'intera giornata che si terrà venerdì 17 Settembre 2010 presso il Padiglione Italiano.
Il tema del workshop sarà l'utilizzo di sistemi di prevenzione e valutazione del rischio per la protezione delle aree naturali e della biodiversità terrestre e marina.
CIMA Research Foundation insieme ad altri importanti centri di ricerca e società private italiane impegnate nel campo del monitoraggio ambientale e della riduzione dei disastri, fornirà al pubblico cinese un quadro completo dei sistemi e gli strumenti operativi che sono attualmente utilizzati in Italia per la gestione delle aree protette e per far fronte ai rischi di origine naturale o umana che colpiscono gli ecosistemi marini e terrestri.
