CIMA Research foundation coordinated the THREADS proposal that has been submitted to the EC judgment in response to the call SPA.2010.1.1-01

Call SPA.2010.1.1-01 - stimulating the development of downstream GMES services
THREADS is an end user driven project that involves the Italian National Civil Protection Department and the National Civil Protection Sectors/Agencies of 5 Associated Countries of the SEE area:
-Albania
-Bosnia-Herzegovina
-FY Republic of Macedonia
-Montenegro
-Serbia
The project involves two SMEs (Acrotec s.r.l. and GeoModelling) as well as UNISDR and ASI.
The general objective of THREADS is to provide accurate and timely data to better manage the environment, understand and mitigate the effects of climate change and ensure civil security.
The rationale of THREADS stands on the assumption that the risk associated with Flash Flood and Forest Fire can be effectively mitigated by the adoption of non-structural measures, especially with regard to the early warning phase which is of crucial importance when weather related natural hazards are of concern.
Within the proposal Service Level Agreements regarding Flash Flood and Forest Fire Services provision have been signed between End-Users, Service providers (the National Hydro-meteorological services of the different countries included in the partnership of the project) and CIMA Foundation as guarantor for the EC.
