PROTERINA-Due
The project PROTERINA-Due, designed as a natural continuation of the activities carried during the previous PROTERINA-C project, has been presented within the Programme Italia-France "Marittimo 2007-2013", arriving third of a total of thirty proposals and thus being admitted for funding. PROTERINA-Due will keep a Ligurian management although it will change leader: CIMA Research Foundation, which has participated in the previous PROTERINA-C while a sub-contractor of Regione Liguria, will now coordinate the project. Other partners involved in the project are:
Regione Liguria
UniversitĂ di Corsica Pasquale Paoli
Regione Autonoma della Sardegna
ARPA Sardegna
DIPNET - UniversitĂ di Sassari
Consorzio LAMMA
CNR-IBIMET Sassari
The main object of PROTERINA-Due is the information related to the prediction and prevention of natural hazards, broken down into separate meanings:
i) Ability to read/understand the local territory through an adequate monitoring network;
ii) Information as knowledge and modeling of the processes that determine the conditions of hazard and risk in the area;
iii) Information as the capacity for dialogue and exchange between executive agencies and citizenship, particularly in the planning and management of emergencies;
iv) Information such as capitalization and dissemination of the results achieved in the course of the old and the new project.
There are two main lines of investment.The first line concerns the strengthening of observation networks in the regions of interest; in this context, focus will be both on issues related to hydrogeological risk and to those related with forest fires risk, with variable intensity depending on the needs expressed by the various territories. The second line aims to improve the participation and sharing of information (data and models) between institutional bodies and the territory (ordinary citizens or organized communities). Such communication can be seen - in some cases - as being bidirectional. This line is the natural continuation of activities carried in the framework of RESMAR Project-action E: Civil Protection Focus Group.
